SBAT update

That's the cover for a mini zine/fold out poster I am making for the SBAT [details in the previous post]. I've been having LOADS of really weird dreams recently [some cheese related, some not so muc cheese related] so, they're going down inky style in a little zine!

Aaaaand, this 'ere is my first completed piece for the event. It's a character cross over chart kinda thing! It'll be available to buy as a bunch of A4 prints on the 2 days.

Southbank Arts Trail

Today I recieved an email from fellow illustrator Dave Bain asking if I wanted to be part of SBAT [Southbank Arts Trail].
I'm setting up a table selling some of my work alongside my good pal Liam Barrett for 2 days, so, make sure if you're about in Bristol on the 21st/22nd May you pop in and buy some work so we can put some meat on our bones!

Look out for us, our stall will be 'Flancrest Enterprises', or, for those of you fluent in Latin...

Urban Outfitters Illustration Exhibition

It's been a long time!
Full-time work has been the bain of my life and main drain of my creativity. Luckily I've lost my job.
Liam Barrett and I have been working on an illustration exhibtion which will be showcasing amazing talent from the darkest corners of the Southwest to the murkiest ends of London!
It'd be amazing if you could come along!

Short nights, long legs, painting pegs,

Plymouth is draining my enthusiasm and inspiration.

Looking forward to a fresh year.

Guns at Dawn...

I've been looking into hand rendered type recently after reading they typography masterpiece, 'Hand Job'.

Hand made type excites me.

So I made a personal project based around it. Here's my first image I came up with...

George Lenton - Get Moving EP

Hi!

I haven't posted anything for some time due to much work amongst other things...

I've just finished my second album artwork for dubstep's connoisseur, George Lenton.

Working with George is good fun. His pin-pointed music style makes it quite clear as to what I should draw for him.

Autumn Shift Entry

A homeslice from my class, Josh, hooked me up with a live draw in Brixton. Unfortunately I couldn't attend, but Ruth, a friend of the curator, has asked me to produce a small illustration for a booklet which "will be part showcase of our collaborator's talents, part promotional tool, part fundraising aid."

It will be available at many of the festivals the 'autumn shift' group will be working at including 'Secret Garden Party'.

Zine Project.

The current project at uni is based on zines. I've never had much interest in looking into zines, but after 'nuff research and thought, they're awesome! We have to do one on a chosen family member, mine is of course, my Mum.

This is a feature page in my zine based on my Mum's haircuts through the ages;

Steve Strong Cover art

I've recently finished mr Steve Strong's EP cover art. It's going to be produced on card and going to be fully recycleable... although I don't know why you'd want to recycle this, his music is super!

Peep the video below filmed and edited by Daniel Broadley & Ant Thornton.

Brick Lane exhibition!

I had my work exhibited in LCB surf & skate store on Bethnal Green Road, at the end of Brick Lane. This was my first ever exhibition and it went swimmingly well! It was held by 'Sequence Collective' - www.sequencecollective.com and was curated by Oliver Chapman.

Each poster was handscreen printed.
My good man Louis hooked me up with the exhibition. I think my work was the only first years work there. Other guest artists included 'Zeroten', 'The 5683', 'The Inventory Studio' and 'Come Along Fool'.

The theme to work towards was 'Sequence'.

'Con'sequence'

Here is the price guide that folds out to be the A3 poster [see above]. My name is next to Drew's! Check out Drew's work @ www.drewturner.co.uk

I found it quite a shame that there were only two or three traditional illustrations on show including my own, the rest were screen prints or digital prints. Computers are merely tools, people nowadays rely too heavily on them.

Here are some of the photos from the exhibition from Oliver Chapman's 'in sequence' blog www.insequences.blogspot.com
